Phodnicha Bhat is like lemon rice, can be prepared easily with left over of rice.

Ingredients for How to Make Phodnicha Bhat

  • Left Over Rice 4 cups
  • Raw Peanuts 1/4 cup
  • Oil 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard Seeds (Rai) 1/2 tablespoon 
  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera) 3/4 Tablespoon
  • Chili Powder
  • Green Chillies 2-3
  • Onion 1 Small
  • Turmeric Powder (Haldi) 1/2 Tablespoon
  • Salt as per taste
  • Sugar as per taste
  • Asafoetida (Hing) 1 Pinch
  • Curry Leaves 10-15
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Kadai
  • Spoon
  • Lemon 1 Big
  • Grated Coconut 1/2 tablespoon

Before Preparation of Phodnicha Bhat

  • Chop onion in small pieces.
  • Cut small slices of potato.
  • Grate coconut if grated coconut is not available
  • Cut Green Chillies in to small pieces.
  • Chop coriander leaves.

Preparation of Phodnicha Bhat

  1. Keep the Kadai on the gas for heating.
  2. Put 2 tablespoons oil to heat.
  3. Put mustard seeds in the oil. 
  4. Then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chili powder, green chillies, onion, peanuts, asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves in the oil till all the ingredients get mix with the oil.
  5. Now add the left over of rice in the above materials and stir it well to mix with other ingredients.
  6. Cover the non stick pan for 5 minutes for steaming. After 1-2 minutes stir the ingredients so that each item will be cooked properly.
  7. After steaming up of bhat add sugar and salt as per taste.
  8. Also add coriander leaves and again cover cup the non-stick pan for 1 minute. After 1 minute hot Phodnicha Bhat is ready.

Now serve the hot and tasty Phodnicha Bhat with grated coconut and you can also squeeze lemon on it.
