Method of preparing Bhaji (pakoda) (pakora) at home in easy steps:


Ingredients for Bhaji

  • Chana Dal Besan or Gram Flour 1 1/2 cup
  • Oil 5 tablespoons
  • Green Chillies 2-3
  • Turmeric Powder (Haldi) 1/2 Tablespoon
  • Salt as per taste
  • Asafoetida (Hing) 1 Pinch
  • Chili Powder 1 tablespoon
  • Non-stick pan
  • Spoon
  • Ajwain
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Bowl
  • Pav or bread

Before Preparation of Bhaji

  • Cut Green Chillies in to small pieces.
  • Chop coriander leaves

Preparation of Batata Bhaji

1. Mix besan, chopped coriander leaves, chopped green chillies, turmeric powder, salt, asafoetida, chilli powder, ajwain in a bowl and add water as per requirement. Stir it well.

2. After stirring the batter put the cover on it from or 15-20 minutes.

3. After that heat the oil in the fry pan initially in full flame and then reduce the flame to medium.

4. Oil should not be excess heaten up otherwise the taste of pakoda will get spoiled. 

5. After oil get enough heaten up, keep the flame to medium and put batter in medium quantities with the help of spoon or fork or washed hands in the pan. 

6. Fry in oil till the batter colour turns to brown. After colour changes to brown from one side turn the batter on other side. Wait till the batter on other side also turns to brown colour. Heating should not be done excess otherwise batter gets black in colour. 

7. After frying the bhaji, from both sides, take them out, drain them for excess oil and initially put the bhajis on tissue paper so that still remained excess oil will be drained out. 

Now serve/eat the hot and tasty bhaji with tomato sauce or pav/bread.
